Installing a good quality heat pump with an energy rating of up to 6 stars will give you up to $4.50 worth of heating value for every $1 spent, in comparison a lower efficiency unit may only give you $2.50 worth of heating value for the same $1. The difference can be around $300 per year, meaning although some lesser known heat pump brands are cheaper to purchase, the savings can be negated in the first year or so with the higher running costs.
